Riverbanks Zoo & Garden
The Riverbanks Zoo and Garden is located just outside of Downtown Columbia on
Greystone Boulevard. The Zoo has been open for more than 30 years and in 2002,
won the Governor's Cup for Most Outstanding Tourist Attraction in South Carolina.
Riverbanks has two sides: the Zoo, home to over 2,000 exotic animals, and the
award-winning botanical gardens, over 70 acres of beautiful, preserved landscape.

EdVenture Children's Museum
The EdVenture children's museum on Gervais Streeet in Downtown Columbia is the
biggest children's museum in the South. The 67,000 square foot museum includes
eight permanent galleries, in addition to traveling exhibits.

The State Museum provides a variety of propgrams including traveling exhibits,
campins, birthday parties, and summer programs.

The South Carolina State House
The first map of South Carolina showed the new location of the State House which
was to be located on a prominent hill. The final State House, which stands overlooking
Gervais Street today, took 56 years to complete. Building of The State House cost $3,450,000.
